The Head of AI & Product will be a founding member of the VVII LTD leadership team, responsible for defining and executing the technology and product strategy across the firm's portfolio of operating companies. This is not a purely technical role – it requires someone who can operate at the intersection of business strategy, product management, and applied AI/ML engineering.

You will work directly with the Managing Partner and the Director of Operations to identify high-impact opportunities where technology can drive revenue growth, margin expansion, and operational efficiency across the portfolio.

AI & Data Strategy

• Define and execute the AI/ML strategy across VVII's portfolio companies, identifying use cases with the highest ROI
• Build and deploy AI-powered solutions for demand forecasting, dynamic pricing, inventory optimisation, customer segmentation, and supply chain intelligence
• Develop data infrastructure and pipelines to enable analytics and machine learning across portfolio companies
• Stay at the frontier of applied AI – evaluate and integrate emerging tools (LLMs, computer vision, agentic workflows) where they create real business value

Product Leadership

• Own the product vision and roadmap for technology solutions deployed across the portfolio
• Design and build customer-facing products (e.g. intelligent ordering platforms, self-service portals) that improve the end-customer experience and drive revenue
• Develop internal tools and dashboards for operations, finance, and management reporting
• Lead product discovery, user research, and rapid prototyping to validate ideas before scaling

Software & Systems

• Evaluate, select, and implement core technology platforms (ERP, CRM, e-commerce, logistics software) for portfolio companies
• Drive the modernisation of legacy systems in acquired businesses – pragmatically and with minimal disruption
• Ensure robust cybersecurity, data governance, and compliance practices across all technology deployments
• Build and manage relationships with technology vendors and development partners

Team & Culture

• Recruit and mentor a small, high-performing technical team as the portfolio grows
• Foster a culture of experimentation, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement
• Translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders – board members, portfolio company operators, and investors

Essential Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in product management, applied AI/ML engineering, or a hybrid of both
• Demonstrated track record of shipping AI-powered products or features that delivered measurable business impact
• Strong technical foundation: fluency in Python, SQL, and modern ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar); comfortable with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Experience with LLMs and generative AI applications in a business context
• Product management expertise: ability to define vision, prioritise ruthlessly, and ship iteratively
• Commercial acumen – ability to quantify the business value of technology investments and communicate ROI to stakeholders
• Experience in or strong affinity for 'traditional' industries (food, logistics, manufacturing, wholesale, retail)
• Exceptional communication skills – able to operate credibly with both engineers and business operators

Desirable

• Advanced degree (MSc/PhD) in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related field
• Experience in a PE-backed, VC-backed, or family office environment with exposure to portfolio operations
• Experience with supply chain, logistics, or food industry technology
• Prior experience as a founding/early-stage product or engineering leader
• Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, NetSuite, or industry-specific platforms)
