The Role
The Director of Operations will be a founding member of the VVII LTD leadership team, responsible for the day-to-day operational management and strategic growth of the firm's portfolio of operating companies. This role requires a hands-on leader who can drive operational excellence across multiple businesses while maintaining a strategic perspective on portfolio-wide value creation.
You will work directly with the Managing Partner to identify and execute high-impact operational improvements, oversee integration of newly acquired businesses, and build the operational infrastructure needed to scale the portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Operations
- Oversee day-to-day operations across VVII's portfolio companies, ensuring consistent performance and growth
- Lead post-acquisition integration of new businesses into the VVII operating framework
- Develop and implement standardised operating procedures, KPIs, and reporting frameworks across the portfolio
- Drive operational efficiency improvements to expand margins and improve cash flow generation
Strategic Leadership
- Partner with the Managing Partner on acquisition due diligence, with focus on operational assessment
- Develop and execute 100-day integration plans for newly acquired businesses
- Identify cross-portfolio synergies in procurement, logistics, and shared services
- Build and maintain relationships with key customers, suppliers, and partners
Team & Culture
- Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing operational teams across portfolio companies
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making
- Translate strategic objectives into actionable operational plans for portfolio company management teams
Candidate Profile
Essential Requirements
- 10+ years of senior operational leadership experience, ideally in food, wholesale, distribution, or manufacturing
- Demonstrated track record of managing P&L responsibility of £5M+ and driving operational improvements
- Experience with multi-site operations management and business integration
- Strong commercial acumen with ability to identify and quantify operational improvement opportunities
- Experience with ERP systems, supply chain management, and operational technology
- Exceptional communication skills – able to operate credibly with both frontline teams and investors
Desirable
- Experience in a PE-backed, VC-backed, or family office environment with portfolio operations exposure
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree
- Experience with food safety, HACCP, and industry-specific regulatory compliance
- Prior experience integrating acquired businesses
